PILASTRO (Amsterdam, founded 1955)
Pilastro was a Dutch furniture brand of CV Reijenga's Apparatenbouw, which began producing modern metal furniture in Amsterdam in 1955. The main designer was Tjerk Reijenga, who developed the modular wall system Combinaire 1001 for the brand. Pilastro manufactured functional wall racks, desks, cabinets, coat racks, and small furniture made of sheet steel and metal wire. The designs were lightweight, minimalist, and space-saving, and were executed in black, white, grey, and bright primary colors. The furniture aligned with the principles of the Goed Wonen Foundation and bore the corresponding quality mark. In the 1960s, the company was based in Zwanenburg; production of the well-known wall units likely ended shortly after 1967.
