Richard BAUMGART (New York 1946)
Richard Baumgart is a painter who completed a five-year art education, partly in a studio at Carnegie Hall in New York and partly on the French West Coast. He paints people, still lifes, landscapes, and everyday scenes. In addition, he creates his own versions of paintings by Old Masters. His depictions are figurative, without striving for a strictly realistic representation. He works primarily with oil on canvas, but also uses watercolor, gouache, pastel, and sometimes acrylic. Before dedicating himself to painting, he earned an MBA in International Finance from the University of California, Berkeley.
