Rien BEKKERS (Vught 1950)
Rien Bekkers is a Dutch costume designer and designer of sculptural costume objects. He attended the Drawing Academy in Tilburg and studied fashion design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam. Since 1980, he has worked as an independent costume designer for theatre, opera, ballet, and film, and has designed costumes for more than 150 productions.
Drawing from his theater practice, he developed freestanding costume objects incorporating historical clothing forms and diverse artisanal techniques. His work has been presented at Rijksmuseum Twenthe and the Noordbrabants Museum, among others.
