Wil Jansen (1954)

Painter

Wil JANSEN (Rotterdam 1954)

Wil Jansen is a painter who studied at the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam from 1994 to 1999. She uses motifs from nature as a starting point for abstract oil paintings. Color, form, rhythm, and the properties of paint are central to her work. By repeatedly applying and removing paint, thick layers of paint are created featuring lines, dots, cracks, and craters. This gives the surface a relief, giving the paintings the character of wall objects as well. Her working method revolves around building up and altering patterns and structures.
