Very large, heavy wall object made of steel by Anton Rooskens! Including hanging system. A unique object for this artist!

The work was commissioned in 1961 for the De Emwee LP Grothausen NV machine factory in Venlo. Rooskens was a friend of the founder and director of the factory, L. Grothausen. When Grothausen died in 1959, the works council proposed having a permanent memorial made to the former director, which Anton Rooskens was very willing to do. The work was hung in the reception hall of the factory and was intended for the entire staff. It is the only work ever made by Rooskens from steel.

The wall object is made of heavy shipboard.
Please note: the statue is very heavy. When picking up, keep in mind that you are coming with two people.

Extensive description after research:

Work by Anton Rooskens, painter and friend of Mr. L. Grothausen from Venlo, founder and director of DE EMWEE machine factory
Mr. L. Grothausen died in 1959.

A major reorganization took place at machine factory DE EMWEE LP GROTHAUZEN NV in 1962.

The Works Council of the machine factory came up with the proposal to create a lasting memory of Mr. L. Grothausen to be made by Mr. A. Rooskens. It had to be a symbolic work of art, depicting the rise of the company and be made of steel, because the company processes metal to make lathes, plate rollers, presses and light printing machines for Van Der Grinten (butter coloring).
This work of art would hang in the reception hall of the factory, intended for the entire staff.

This sculpture by Anton Rooskens is made of heavy ship's plate, which has wandered around the world's oceans and, through artisanal processing, a stylized bird figure was created, which against the natural stone background is the embodiment of breaking free and pushing upward. Part of the grand piano refers to the music, by tapping it with a hard object you hear certain tones.

In the edition of the book by "Anton Rooskens, Beyond Voorbij Cobra", it is stated that it would be a grave monument, but this is not correct. It is a memory of the founder of Machinefabriek DE EMWEE LP GROTHAUZEN NV.
