BCEttinger 1916 - 1991 The Hague artist Borgert C. van Ettinger (1916-1991) was nicknamed 'Rembrandt on the bicycle'. Because he was not very fond of cars, he preferred to travel by bicycle. With the help of nuts, bolts, and ropes, he had turned his bicycle into a mobile studio so that, seated on the luggage rack, he could paint his cityscapes on location. Naturally, this attracted a lot of attention, and he would carry the witty nickname given to him by one of the bystanders for many years to come.
