Cees Dolk - "dish 5" - Screenprint 9/50

A beautiful modern work of art ("dish 5", screen print 9/50) by the Dutch artist Cees Dolk (1949-2016). Beautifully framed behind passe partout and glass. Signed lower right. The dimensions with frame: 72 cm. x 87 cm. The image size is: 55 cm. x 70 cm. The condition of the artwork is very good. The work can be viewed at Kunsthandel Martins in Wolvega and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Biography: Cees Dolk was born in Rotterdam in 1949. He trained at, among others, the Artibus Academy in Utrecht, the Jalapa University in Veracruz Mexico and the Styria Studio in New York. In addition to being a painter, Dolk is also a bookbinder. Dolk's work, which consists of collages, paintings, lithographs and drawings, is characterized by his powerful primary use of color. Dolk presents us with a sensory experience, where distinct shapes and colors leave a strong visual impression. The formlessness in his head of competing thoughts and feelings takes shape on the paper and linen. We often see how different layers and shapes play with each other, sometimes in conflict and sometimes in harmony. The titles of Dolk's works often refer clearly to the work we see, such as “Tulpen & Zo” or the “Flora en Fauna” series. Other titles are more mysterious and make us guess what it is that we are seeing, such as his “Talmen en Dralen” series or the works called “Movable and immovable”. On July 7, 2016, Cees Dolk died at the age of 66 from the effects of Alzheimer's disease.
