Werd in 1968 lid van de Haagse Aquarellisten en in 1975 van Pulchri Studio in Den Haag. Kemper won in 1940 de eerste prijs van de wedstrijd 'Stadsgezichten' in Schiedam, in 1941 de eerste prijs in de gemeente Voorburg, in 1942 de zilveren Willink van Collenprijs en in 1953 de Havenprijs van de Rotterdamse Kunststichting.
