Print 190:
This work comes from the famous graphic series Prent 190, the initiative from the mid-1960s by art organizer Louis Gans (1930 – 2012). Gans' intention was to make original art accessible to a wider audience. For a fixed amount per year, people could become a member for the publications of Prent 190, usually about 10 sheets of graphics. Although it was known which artists would participate, the members did not know what they would receive. Gans chose 7 Dutch artists and 3 foreigners every year.
The number 190 refers to the edition of the prints, a significant part of which was printed by the Amsterdam master printer Piet Clement.
