Faience- en Tegelfabriek Westraven - Luigi Amati - Gemini (zodiac sign)

Very beautiful Westraven Utrecht high relief wall tile with a representation of the constellation Capricorn (Capricornus) by the Italian designer and designer Luigi Amati around the 1960s or 1970s. This earthenware tile shows an animal figure in relief with brown glaze against a broken mint green decorated background as well as (a variation on) the astrological symbol for Capricorn (Capricornus) in the upper right corner. On the back three times, somewhat unclear but unmistakable, the stamp of the faience and tile factory Westraven Utrecht. There is also a notch on the back for mounting on the wall. The tile is quite large, approximately 26 by 26 cm and almost 2 cm thick. Please note: the condition of the tile is good but with two shortcomings. Firstly, a chip (damage) on the inside of the ibex's hind leg. The second is a small chip (damage) to the edge on the right side. Please look at the photos for precise details of these defects (particularly the last photos in the series). The glaze also shows some crackle, especially in the glaze of the figure, but this is common with pottery of this age. This beautifully designed tile fits in both a modern and classic interior, and will certainly act as a real eye-catcher and conversation piece. Shipped in standard parcel shipment.
