The landscape spaces that Frea creates are never introverted or hermetically sealed, but invite dialogue; just like Frea herself.
Her entire life revolves around communication. The desire to tell a story and find the right form to do so—as an artist, teacher, politically engaged citizen, and community member—determines her artistic choices. She draws generous inspiration from nature and fellow artists to continually find new perspectives.
After several studio changes in Almere Haven, Frea Lenger finally found her place in a beautiful, spacious studio at De Paal. Her paintings become even more monumental there. This development is not only related to the optimal working conditions but also to her 3D work, in which she incorporates metal mesh and Perspex. The interaction with her sculptures brings greater transparency and space to her paintings.
Frea remains inspired to explore new paths and take on new artistic challenges. In recent work, for example, blues and yellows blend into a vibrant green. Her work is constantly evolving.
Connection and encounter define Frea and her artwork. In her studio, at exhibitions, and in public spaces, she connects and you encounter her colorful yet understated works.
