The work shows an abstract expressionism with black and white tones. Signed at the bottom. Gerard Lataster (1920-2012) was a Dutch painter, who is considered to be an abstract expressionist. He was educated at the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten. In the work of the last 20 years, Lataster seems to have a large arsenal of means at his disposal, so that he could increasingly draw the challenge and inspiration from his immediate environment. The people and objects become more tangible, three-dimensional and less symbolic. But the strongly emotional and expressionistic character of Lataster's work, which is always achieved through technology, remains decisive. More than in the previous period, the painter creates this emotionality mainly through the more physical character that people and things have acquired.
