Jan Knikker Jr., Jan Simon Knikker (jr.), pseudonym "J. vd Venne" and "J. Endlich" is a Dutch artist and painter born in 1911 in Leiden and died in 1990 in The Hague. He was the son of Jan Simon Knikker (Sr.). He trained at the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague. He had a preference for genre landscapes, river landscapes, winter landscapes, cityscapes, village views and still lifes with mainly flowers He lived and worked in Wassenaar, Voorschoten and The Hague. Signed Jan Knikker Jr. Son of Jan Simon Knikker Sr. He was a student of the Academy of Visual Arts in The Hague (1928-1932) and he painted landscapes and cityscapes in a figurative style. He is seen as a follower of the Hague School and he worked a lot for the art trade. His cityscapes are particularly sought after abroad. Although the Knikker family of painters, and in particular Jan Knikker senior (Old Jan) and Aris Knikker, came from North Holland, Old and Young Jan Knikker became real painters from The Hague.
