- Jan Sirks is net als de schilder J.H. van Mastenbroek synoniem met de verbeelding van de Rotterdamse haven. Al op zeer jonge leeftijd toonde Jan Sirks een groot tekentalent. Zijn eerste grote tentoonstelling hield hij in 1915 in Utrecht. Het is zeer waarschijnlijk dat deze tekening daar al getoond werd.
