Josef Jan Michnia (1942–2024) was a prominent Polish-German painter and graphic artist, known primarily for his colorful, expressive style. He lived in Mönchengladbach in his later years. Born in Waldbrücken (Silesia) in 1942, he began painting at the age of six. He received his artistic training in Opole (Oppeln), where he worked as an assistant to Professor Marek Jennert from 1967 to 1972. In 1988, he moved to Germany with his family. Michnia died in early 2024 at the age of 81. His work is often described as expressive painting, characterized by keen observation and the bold use of form and color. He was influenced by Expressionism and the works of Paul Cézanne, among others. His oeuvre includes still lifes, musical narratives, and nudes in oil on canvas. His works are represented in the international art market.

The painting dates from 2005 - signed on the front left at the bottom, signed and inscribed again on the back. A certificate is included.
