Leonor Fini 1907 - 1996 Lovers in the twilight - signed work; mixed technique. Fini is usually counted among the surrealists; something she wasn't happy about. She was just too headstrong to fit in anywhere. She did know many artists, with whom she was friends. Cartier-Bresson's famous nude photo of her, is considered one of the best pictures of the master… Another friend was Picasso, who she asked when he would finally stop messing around. And of course people like Dali… My work is of exquisite subtlety. You can feel the landscape not depicted; the landscape at which the lovers gaze in close embrace. Mighty… Fini lived with two men, and countless cats… she could often be seen painting in undergarments (photo not included in the auction)
