Geboren te Rotterdam in 1912, Overleden te Amsterdam in 1978.
Opleiding: Metten Koornstra heeft in Roterdam aan de academie voor beeldende kunsten een opleiding gevolgd.
Hij woonde en werkte in Rotterdam en Parijs en vanaf 1937 in Amsterdam.
Metten Koornstra was een graficus en kunstschilder van verstilde landschappen en figuren. Daarnaast maakte hij vele illustraties voor boeken en ontwierp hij boekomslagen. Metten Koornstra was gedurende zijn leven een bekende kunstenaar.
