Nicolaas Charles van Vulpen (1915-1991)
Nicolaas van Vulpen Wiertz was born in Hilversum in 1915. His artistic talent was inherited from his great-grandfather, Antoine Wiertz, who had a museum named after him in Brussels. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Amsterdam, Berlin, and Munich, among others.
He was a member of the Gooise Schildersvereniging (Gooi Painters' Association), which also included Jan Korthals and Jan Rijlaarsdam. He traveled extensively, and as a result, his works were sold worldwide, including to celebrities like Liz Taylor and Richard Burton. Over the years, his work has been exhibited at various locations, including the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam. He died in 1991 in Aubeterre.
