Nicolaas Pieneman (1880–1938) was a Dutch artist from Amsterdam. He trained at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten in Amsterdam and was a student of Martin Monnickendam. He specialized in cityscapes and landscapes, often inspired by Amsterdam and its surroundings. As a member of the avant-garde painters' association De Onafhankelijken (The Independents), his work was exhibited at the Stedelijk Museum in the 1920s, alongside that of contemporaries such as Piet Mondrian, Charley Toorop, Jan Wiegers, and Johan Dijkstra.
