Reinder Homan - hand-signed etching/aquatint | 'Allersmaborg-Ezinge' | 2012

We proudly present on Kunstveiling a magnificent, extremely refined graphic work by the highly regarded Dutch etcher Reinder Homan (1950).

Homan, whose work is included in the collection of the Rijksmuseum among others, demonstrates his absolute genius in this panoramic etching in capturing the serene atmosphere surrounding a historic country house. The composition exudes a serene tranquility, yet simultaneously harbors a visual tour de force that continues to intrigue the viewer.

What makes this etching truly hypnotic is the phenomenal rendering of the water surface. Homan elevates traditional reflection here, giving the work an almost Escher-like character. The gnarled branches and trunks of the bare trees in the foreground merge seamlessly into their own, almost abstract reflection in the ripple-free water. The delicate hatching creates an optical layering in which the boundary between the physical world and the fluid world of shadows blurs. This play with perspective, line, and symmetry invites the viewer to keep looking and discovering. It is a remarkably skillful demonstration of how Homan can transform reality into a graphic masterpiece.

Reinder Homan is one of the most respected contemporary realist printmakers in the Netherlands. His training at the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht laid the foundation for his unparalleled etching technique. During his career, he received, among other awards, the Dutch Printmaking Prize.

A fantastic opportunity for collectors to acquire an etching by Homan in which his love for nature merges with an intriguing, mathematical graphic aesthetic. A timeless possession that in reality reveals far more depth than can be captured in a photograph.

The work is in neat condition and is signed, dated, and numbered in pencil by the artist.
