Sidi El Karchi (Sittard, 1975) studied at the Fashion School in Sittard and at the Academy of Visual Arts in Maastricht, where he graduated in 2001. His oeuvre consists of colorful paintings and drawings with a graphic appearance where abstraction and hyperrealism alternate. You immediately recognize his powerful portraits. They are often monumental, colorful works with an unusual tranquil appearance. The refined painted subjects are almost always people from the immediate circle of the artist. The paintings are therefore about his own life, but at the same time harbor a deeper symbolism. His work has been exhibited in the Bonnfantenmuseum, the White Box Gallery in New York, the Singer Museum and Framer Framed in Amsterdam, among others.
