In the 1980s, this work was purchased directly from the artist. According to his statement, he intended to depict the human inability to communicate here. The setting is a gallery with invited guests. People are present, but they do not look at each other. There is no real contact, nor any interest in the artworks. Before this, l'Herminerz primarily painted women. This is broken with in this painting. That makes this magical realist work all the more special.
