Ulrich Ruckriem - Work

Catalogue, 1994, 309 pages, soft cover | Ulrich Rückriem (born 1938 in Düsseldorf) is a Cologne and London-based sculptor who is often associated with minimalism, process art, or conceptual art. - Rückriem, worked at the cathedral workshop in Cologne and studied at the Cologne workshops with Ludwig Gies. At the same time he began working as a freelance artist. In 1966/1967 he made a name for himself with sculptures made of wooden beams, and from 1968 he designed stone sculptures. This is where his artistic process, which is still characteristic today, developed: Typically, Rückriem divides a block of stone with a greatly reduced cubic shape and then puts the parts back together.
