This is an original steel engraving of Delft City Hall, circa 1840, engraved by T. Clark after a drawing by William Henry Bartlett. The print comes from Bartlett's well-known series of city views of the Netherlands and Belgium, published in London (by George Virtue) and in France with a list of French captions — hence the inscription "HÔTEL DE VILLE À DELFT" next to "TOWN HALL, DELFT", and the publishers' names "STADHUIS TE DELFT" and "HÔTEL DE VILLE À DELFT" in the margin.

What you see • Image: The Market Square with the town hall and the tower, in the foreground market vendors, carts, and horses — a lively 19th-century city view. • Size: The image itself measures approximately 15.5 × 12 cm; including the text margin, the sheet size is slightly larger. • Technique: Steel engraving, uncolored, on light cream-colored paper — exactly what you see in the photo.

Created by Thomas Clark (c. 1800–1867), the Scottish engraver from Edinburgh. He signed as "T. Clark" and worked extensively for London publishers such as George Virtue, including on steel engravings after drawings by William Henry Bartlett.
