The large painting is stretched on a stretcher frame and is in very good condition. Signed by the artist on the back. Purchased by the current owner at gallery Forum Art in Voorburg for €2200,-

William Malucu was born in Pilar, Alagoas, 1975. He is a contemporary painter, who works and lives in the popular coastal city of Fortaleza, Brazil. The nightlife, the view of the Atlantic Ocean, combined with the inspiring classical music of Mahler and Bach in the background form the ideal working conditions for Malucu. In his own concentration zone he translates his colorful experience of the world on canvas into communicating representations. Because he uses both brushes and his own hands, he surprises us again and again with purity. Constantly looking for new perspectives and fabrics, he works with a range of materials, from gold leaf to old newspapers.

The many layers in his work give a sense of depth, literally and figuratively. For example, 'Every material becomes art in my hands', is a quote from Malucu himself. Inspired by the street art of Rio de Janeiro, he became an apprentice to Luiz Ernesto, who taught him the use of different techniques and materials. With great enthusiasm, he developed his talents into his own style. In 2000, the artist won the first prize “Salon de Paisagem” during the prestigious Art Fair “Rio de Janeiro Artsociety”. After collaborating with many galleries, he developed his own style. After his daring dive into the European art market, Malucu became one of the most popular contemporary abstract artists.
