Julian MAYOR (London 1976)
Julian Mayor studied Industrial Design at the University of Northumbria and obtained his Master's degree in Design Products from the Royal College of Art in London in 2000. He is a designer and sculptor who creates sculptural furniture and objects from welded sheet metal. His designs originate as digital three-dimensional models, which he subsequently executes by hand. Characteristic features include angular, faceted surfaces in which geometric constructions combine with organic forms. Visible weld seams and distortions are part of the design. His work is situated at the intersection of furniture design and sculpture.
