Stephen Gill (1971)
Photographer
Stephen Gill (Bristol 1971)
Stephen Gill is a photographer who completed a preparatory photography course at Filton College in Bristol. His work combines documentary photography with experiments in which the photographed environment also becomes a physical part of the image. He incorporates found flowers, seeds, and insects into his photographs and allows prints to change by burying them or exposing them to water. Daily life in East London and nature in Southern Sweden are important subjects. Photobooks occupy a central place in his practice; through his own publishing house, Nobody, he also handles the selection, printing, and binding.
