Luuk SCHOLTEN (Utrecht 1933 - Amersfoort 2020)
Education: Luuk Scholten was educated at the Academy of Visual Arts and Technical Sciences in Rotterdam.
Luuk Scholten was a versatile artist. He taught at the ABK in Rotterdam for 40 years. Scholten was inspired by his surroundings and liked to work in series. He trained himself in the relief printing technique (linocut, woodcut and color woodcut). His work is figurative in nature.
For Scholten, man and his environment are the most important subject. He knows how to make man visible in both his cultural and mythological environment in modest, refined colour nuances. In addition, flora and fauna in relation to man play a major role in his oeuvre.
