Christo became famous for his monumental collaborations with his wife and creative partner, Jeanne-Claude. The duo's projects, such as *The Gates* (1979–2005) in Central Park (New York) and *Wrapped Reichstag* (1972–1995) in Berlin, constituted spectacular interventions in public space. After Jeanne-Claude's death in 2009, Christo worked on the completion of the couple's unrealized projects, including *The London Mastaba* – a 600-ton sculpture consisting of 7,000 painted oil drums, which floated on the Serpentine Lake in London in 2018. In museum spaces – including the Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art – Christo and Jeanne-Claude presented sketch drawings and maquettes. These demonstrated the imagination and technical mastery that underpinned their large-scale installations. At auctions, such works have been sold for six-figure sums.
