Patrick Hughes (Birmingham, October 20, 1939) is a British artist who works in London. He is the spiritual father of "reverspective", an optical illusion on a three-dimensional surface (often one or more truncated pyramids with a square base) in which the parts of the image that appear furthest are physically closest.
Brief biography
Patrick Hughes was born in Birmingham, went to school in Hull and entered James Graham Day College in Leeds in 1959. He later taught at Leeds College of Art before becoming an independent artist. Hughes joined Robin Page's "Jape Art" art movement. He has three sons by his first wife, Rennie Paterson, and was later married to author Molly Parkin. Hughes lives above his studio near Old Street, London, with his third wife, the historian and biographer Diane Atkinson.
