Marie Wandscheer Full name Maria Wilhelmina Wandscheer Born 19 November 1856 Died 18 September 1936 Country of birth Netherlands Occupation(s) Painter RKD profile Portaal Portal icon Art & Culture Maria Wilhelmina Wandscheer (Amsterdam, 19 November 1856 - Ede, 18 September 1936) was a Dutch painter .Life and work[edit]Wandscheer was taught by Valentijn Bing and was a student of August Alleb_ for ten years at the Rijksakademie van Beeldende Kunsten. From 1892 to 1895 she lived in Nieuwer-Amstel, after that she lived in Ede for the rest of her life. Here she met the painter and etcher Willem Witsen, from whom she was taught and with whom she was friends. She was also friends with Lizzy Ansingh, one of the Amsterdam Joffers. Wandshear is included in this group. She painted many flowers, but also figure pieces (especially women), portraits and interiors. She also made pastels and etchings. The painter was a member of Arti et Amicitiae and Pulchri, among others. During her life, several exhibitions of her work were held in Amsterdam, The Hague, Rotterdam and Ede. After her death there were only a few exhibitions in her last residence, the last time in the Historical Museum Ede in 2006 under the title "Marie Wandscheer aan de wand".
