Information about the artist:
Nicolaas (Nico) Ferdinand Molenkamp (Enschede 1920 – Tilburg 1998) is a Dutch painter, draughtsman, wall painter, watercolorist and teacher at the art academy.
-Education: He studied at the forerunner of the Academy of Visual Arts in Tilburg (1945-1948) and at the National Higher Institute of Fine Arts in Antwerp (1949-1953).
From 1953 to 1982 he taught free painting at the Tilburg Academy for Visual Education. He mainly painted abstract animal and human figures and was inspired by circus, theater and fairgrounds.
Nico Molenkamp has received the Talens Prize, the Willink van Collen Prize and the (Karel) Verlat Prize for his work. He is the father of the artist Charlotte Molenkamp (1955).
