When purchasing, the work can be picked up in 's-Gravenzande (near The Hague (Scheveningen), Rotterdam and Delft and 5 minutes from the beach). The term for collection, if paid in advance, is very long, in other words, the buyer can collect the work weeks or even months later and, if possible, combine it with a visit to one of the aforementioned cities or the beach. The work can also be sent via an art courier (Swift).
Petrus Marcelus Maria (Piet) Warffemius (working under the name Warffemius) (The Hague, February 14, 1956) is a Dutch visual artist.
Life and work
Warffemius was born in 1956 in The Hague. He studied there at the Royal Academy of Art, where he graduated in 1979. He was a student of Aart Roos and Auke de Vries, among others. After his education he worked in several fields of the visual arts. He is a painter, sculptor, graphic artist and ceramist.
His work is in the collections of Rabobank, ING Bank, Fortis Bank, Westland Utrecht Hypotheekbank, Nationale Nederlanden, Albert Heijn, the Dutch Railways, KPN and various other companies, among others. Several ministries and the Kruithuis museum in 's-Hertogenbosch also own work by him. In the sculpture garden of the Caldic Collection in Wassenaar there is a bronze statue of his hand. Commissioned by the NS, he made a series of panels that were used for the interior of the carriages. Warffemius won the Jacob Hartog Prize in 1997 and the Godon Prize in 1980. Warffemius is part of the Potsdamer Gruppe, which includes Sjoerd Buisman and Armando. In 2007 he was a guest lecturer at the Academy of Fine Arts in Hamburg.
He made the sculpture Trees for the Park Sytwende in Voorburg and the sculpture Spring for Doorn, both sculptures were made of corten steel. In 2010, an untitled work in the shape of a tree was placed on the Amstelveenseweg in Amsterdam. Commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he made a Corten steel sculpture, which was placed at the Dutch embassy in Addis Ababa in Ethiopia.
