Vincent Cavallaro (1912-1985)
Vincent CAVALLARO (1912-1985), was an American painter, sculptor and abstract artist. Born and raised in Italy. He studied Art at the Brera Academy in Milan (1933). In the United States he initially worked as a canvas restorer and animation film assistant. He served in the United States Army from 1942 to 1946. He received an award from MoMA (Museum of Modern Art, New York) in 1941 for his ?War poster?. He was commissioned by The National Gallery of Art to participate in the "Man in Space" program in 1968. He also made large murals and monuments on commission. Work by Vincent Cavallaro can be found in museums (including National Air and Space Museum and The National Gallery of Art), private collections and public buildings.
