Emile-Jacques RUHLMANN (Paris 1879 – Paris 1933)
From an early age Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann wanted to become a furniture designer and interior architect. From 1900 he made his own designs and took over the family business, after which he opened his own workshop in 1912. He used precious materials and often had furniture inlaid with mother-of-pearl or ivory. In addition, Ruhlmann has never been interested in mass production and never worked towards it.
