Photo-Secession

Founded in 1902 - dissolved in 1917

Photo Secession

The Photo-Secession was a club in America made up of photographers seeking recognition for photography as an art form. Many of the members were adherents of Pictorialism. Besides publishing the photo magazine Camera Work, Photo-Secession also organized exhibitions. One of these exhibitions eventually led to the breakthrough of photography as an art form. After the purpose of the association was achieved, the Photo-Secession between 1912 and 1917 was slowly and tacitly ended.
