SYDNEY WALES WHITE, 1870-1945, was primarily a portrait painter, who was born in Caistor, Lincolnshire in 1870. He had an address in Grimsby, Lincolnshire in the late 1880s and 1890s, before moving to Great Ormond Street in London, followed by Brompton Road and 5, Logan Place, Kensington by the 1920s. He married in Lincolnshire in 1906. He died in Tadworth, Surrey in 1945. Other than this, there is little biographical information about his actual life available.
He painted many portraits of notable figures and the aristocracy, as can be evidenced by looking him up on google, under Sydney W. White at BBC- Your Paintings, where he has 12 paintings in the National Collection. Unfortunately, he is often listed as Sidney, which is incorrect and his second name is also often given as Watts. Having checked on Births, Marriages and Deaths and the Census records, his correct name is Sydney Wales Watts.
