The ABC Press - Salgado print collection is unique and was held carefully conserved by the respective agencies ABC Press, Hollandse Hoogte and ANP Photo through the complete transition from analogue into digital. The ABC Press - Salgado collection is, unlike many other collections, not based on prints that ware given in consignment to ABC Press. The prints were, as we mentioned before, physically acquired by ABC Press from Sebastião Salgado.
Sebastião Salgado started distributing his photo stories through the Magnum Photos agency in the 1980’s. In 1994 he left Magnum Photos and with his wife Lélia Deluiz Wanick, he founded Amazonas Images for distributing his work worldwide. ABC Press as the agent for Magnum Photos represented his work and remained to do so for Amazonas Images. ABC Press was based in Amsterdam.
