Oil painting, marouflé, a rare non-abstract by Tumarkin. He made it as a gift for my mother (Mies Krop) whom he had met at Louis van Gasteren, a Dutch film producer. Mr. Tumarkin was there to paint set decorations for this film producer. I remember my mother telling me that mr. Tumarkin had a wife and a newborn baby (this was their first child) and they were very hard up. The wife stressed and lost her milk. My mother got them a big pot of milkpowder and mr. Tumarkin made this painting for her as thanks. "Keep it," he told her, "one day it will be worth a lot!".
The painting is in fine condition.
