Jose Domingos Martins ( 1953), a passionate artist, exchanged Brazil for Holland in 1983. Here he followed his education on the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam.
He paints the nostalgia for the tropics, the colours of Brazil. He paints moods. Women is always the metaphor of these feelings , the muse, as the symbol of the warmth of his native country. Besides his intuitive style of drawing with the quick contour line, the colours bear a autonomous character.
Martins has had many expositions in European cities in the eighties and in Amsterdam e.o. in the nineties. Several institutions purchased his work , for instance London Bank, Museo do Centro Campestre, NH Church Haarlem, Hall International bv, Hotel Falcon Hotel Amsterdam, Omegram bv, Quaker Oats bv, SBK and NV Werk Amsterdam
