Sir Frank Brangwyn was a British artist born in 1867 in Bruges, Belgium. He was known for his work in painting, watercolour, printmaking, illustration, and design, often depicting the sea and life on the seas. Sir Frank William Brangwyn passed away in 1956 in Ditchling, East Sussex. His works are exhibited in the British Museum, the William Morris Gallery, and Arents House Museum. Brangwyn was the recipient of numerous awards, including the Medal at Paris Salon, Chevalier of the Legion of Honour, Associate member of the Royal Academy, Commander of the Italian Order of Saints Maurice and Lazarus, Commander and Cross of the Order of Leopold I of Belgium, Full member of the Royal Academy, the Albert Medal, Grand Officer of the Order of Leopold II of Belgium, Knight Bachelor, Great Britain. He was influenced by Arthur Heygate Mackmurdo and William Morris, and had notable peers such as Robert Hawthorn Kitson, Diego Rivera, Josep Maria Sert, and John D. Rockefeller Jr.
