Hadewijch Ouwendijk is a Dutch artist. Hadewijch completed her
artistic training in 1974 at the Royal Academy in The Hague,
Graphics/Free painting department. She has been active as an independent
visual artist since 1980. As of January 1, 2020 is a member of Galerie
De Ploegh in Amersfoort www.deploegh.nl and Artists Association
ArtiShock in Rijswijk www.galerie-arti-shock.nl. Her most important work
concerns color etchings and paintings that have been exhibited in
various galleries. She has carried out numerous commissions such as
series of etchings for the municipalities of Dronten and Alphen aan de
Rijn and Rijswijk, and murals, including for the Rabo bank Dronten. In
1997, a large mural with a group of schoolchildren was realized for the
Municipality of Amersfoort: the Brouwerstunnel project. Ten years later
in 2007, a new assignment was given: restoration and updating of the
original drawings, and expansion with a new section because the tunnel
had been extended. She assisted in the production of art books and
catalogs for companies and provided the millennium print for the
municipality of Rijswijk. In 2013 she participated in the project
“033-Leegstand in Amersfoort, the theme exhibition for the preservation
of the Rietveld Pavilion. In 2015, she realized the Philosopher's
Path in collaboration with the ISVW and the VVV. She made 8 etchings of 8
heads of philosophers, 4 of which are on the grounds of the ISVW and 4
in Den Treek. She works on various assignments for private individuals
and companies. She has worked for 20 years in the studio at Muurhuizen
100 in Amersfoort and from the start participated in the well-attended
Art View Route. After having found a replacement studio in the
countryside near Maarsbergen for a period of 8 months in November 2018
(the building at Muurhuizen 100 is about to collapse), she has been
working in her studio at 24 Hellestraat since 1 June 2019 ( entrance
Torenstraat) in Amersfoort. Hadewijch's work is strongly inspired by
clear images from her immediate environment. Striking impressions and a
lively earthly outside world are often colored by a poetic emotional
world. In her earliest graphic work this is expressed in her transparent
landscapes. In addition to the often dreamy etchings that arise from
experimenting with all kinds of variations and nuances that the etching
technique offers, she paints directly with knife and oil paint on canvas
