Ruurd Elzer (1915 – 1995) was a poet and painter. After his training at Minerva in Groningen, he received private lessons from Jan Altink. From 1941 to 1980 he was a member of art circle De Ploeg.
Initially he works figuratively, but from the 1960s mainly abstract. He was mainly concerned with portraits and landscape art.
